Lorenzo Bourque, 92, husband of the late Dora Bourque of Shediac, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22nd, 2017 at the Villa Providence. Born on April 21st, 1925 in Shediac, he was the son of the late Gilbert & Régina (Richard) Bourque.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed with CBC Radio-Canada. His great passion was classical music. He also played various instruments such as the piano, the flute and the organ. He was an active member of the church choir and past president of the Maritime Folk Music Society. He was also a member of the Canadian Armed Forces during WWII.
He is survived by his five children: Hubert (Late Sandra Smith), Francine (Richard Bourque), Daniel (Marlaine Bernatchez), Marcel and Suzanne; a sister: Soeur Lucie Bourque; 10 grandchilren: Linus, Chantal, Caroline, Ariane, Jérémie (Ashleigh Welch), Elyse (Gene Mercer), Margaux, Alexander, William and Joshua.
Besides his wife, Dora (2012), he was predeceased by his daughter Nadine (1994) and brother Roger.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac on Friday, April 27 th from where a Celebration of his life will be held at 3:30 p.m followed by a reception. Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. till time of service.
In memory of Lorenzo, a contribution to the Alzheimer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
