Leslie Gallant, 70, of Shediac, passed away on Saturday November 25, 2017 at The Moncton Hospital with his loving family at his side. Born on January 12, 1947 in Shediac, he was the son of the late Ernest and Florence (Smiley) Gallant.
Leslie worked at the Shediac Co-Op for over 30 years. One of his passions was volunteering with the Shediac Fire Department. He loved spending time with his family and friends, but above all cherished the time with his beloved grandchildren. In his earlier years, Leslie was very active playing baseball, hockey and bowling. He always enjoyed telling jokes, making people laugh, playing cards and dancing. Leslie was known for his generosity and always willing to help anyone.
He is survived by his special friend Claudette Bourque; two daughters: Nadine McCormick (late Kevin) of Hampton and Joline Bourgeois (André) of Shediac; one son-in-law: Jason Melanson of Scoudouc; five grandchildren: Ashley (Patrick), Alysha, Kyana, Caleb and Lexie; two sisters: Linda (Charlie) of Shediac and Marceline (late Jack) of North-Bay, Ont.; six brothers; Gary (Koko), Donald, Gordon all of Shediac, Rodney of North Bay, Ont., Rodrigue (Ed) of Fort Erie, Ont. and Alexandre of Flynt, Michigan; the mother of his children Hélène Gallant; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his daughter: Lisa; and his siblings: Juliette, Béatrice, Georgie, Richard "Butch", Arthur and Allan.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main St, Shediac (532-3297) on Wednesday November 29 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm ONLY. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint-Joseph R.C. Church in Shediac on Thursday November 30, at 11am. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
