It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, Rodrigue Brideau, 76, of Moncton. Dad passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at home.
Born in Tracadie, NB, he was the son of the late Joseph Patrice and Alma (Comeau) Brideau.
He will be greatly missed by his partner, Yolande Collin, with whom he spent 35 wonderful years; their children: Christian (Isabelle) of Gatineau, Michèle (Luc) of Riverview, Marc (Sylvie) of Edmundston, Jean Pascal (Janie) of Caraquet; his children of his first marriage with Linda (Lanteigne) Brideau: Marie-Josée (Anne) of Tracadie, Jean-François (Mélanie, Marianne) of Québec; his children of his second marriage with Gisèle (Morais) L’Hirondelle with whom they also had a son who passed away at birth, Rodrigue-Patrice, and Carole Paulin (Donovan) of Moncton, daughter of Yolande.
Rodrigue was proud of his family and happy to have 11 grandchildren: Éloi, Chloé, Dominic, Carolane, René Pier, Jean David, Martin, Maxime, Sandrine, Olivier, William.
He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: André (Liliane), Louis, Rodolphe (Elda), Nazaire (Alida), Régina (Joao), Carmelle (late Norbert), and Édith.
Besides his son, he was also predeceased by two sisters: Alexandrine and Lydie-Anne.
Rodrigue was a sports fanatic and was involved in the development of sports in Tracadie during the 60’s and 70’s. In 2000, the senior hockey team, Les Alpines, for which he was one of the coaches, was inducted in the Tracadie-Sheila wall of fame. Rodrigue was proud of his Acadian culture, always lived life to the fullest and was optimistic; regardless of the storms. He always considered life to be wonderful.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude towards the staff of the extra-mural program for their excellent care during the past three years.
The family will receive condolences Saturday, December 2nd at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900).
