Sister Dorina Savoie, in religion, Sister Marie Hermance, Fille de Jésus, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 1st, 2018, at Canterbury Hall in Riverview where she resided. She was 88 years old and had celebrated 69 years of religious life. Born in Val d’Amour, NB, she was the daughter of the late Robert Savoie and Hermance née Albert.
Besides her religious family, she is survived by four sisters and eight brothers: Thérèse LeBlanc, Hermance Goudreau, Jeanne Lagacé, Rose Levesque, Marcel, Normand, Daniel, Conrad, Léo, Mario, Ange Émile and Jos Louis; also many nieces, and nephews.
Sister Dorina dedicated her life to the service of the community, the hospital and the convent in Chéticamp, NS, the Provincial House in Moncton, Barachois and Grande-Anse, NB. She moved to Riverview in 2010.
She had a special tenderness for the poor whom she always treated with great love and generosity.
Sister Savoie will be resting at the Notre-Dame-d’Acadie Pavilion of the Maison-mère, 125 King Street, Moncton (Godfrey Lane entrance) on Wednesday from 1:30 pm until the funeral mass. A prayer vigil will begin at 2:15 pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 4 in the Maison-mère chapel at 3 pm. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton (858-1900).
