Sr Bernice Gaudet ndsc
Sister Bernice Gaudet, ndsc, of Maison-mère des Religieuses Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur, Moncton, passed away following a lengthy illness on Tuesday November 6, 2018 at the convent where she resided. She was 85 years old and in her 65th year of religious life. She served as General Superior for her Congregation from 1992 to 2000. Born December 10, 1932 in St-Joseph, she was the daughter of the late Éloi and Anna (Bourgeois) Gaudet.
Besides her religious family, she is survived by four sisters: Andréa Gaudet (Edgar) of Pré-d’en-Haut, Annette Landry (Camille) of Memramcook-Est, Florence LeBlanc (late Eddie) of La Hêtrière, and Thérèse Gaudet (Ronald) of Dieppe; as well as several nephews and nieces.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one sister, Dorilla Doucet (Abel); and one brother, Émile.
Sister Gaudet will be resting at the Notre-Dame-d’Acadie Pavilion of the Maison-mère, 125 King Street, Moncton (Godfrey Lane entrance) on Thursday from 2 to 8:30 pm and on Friday from 9 am until time of funeral mass. Solemn Vespers will be held on Thursday evening at 7 pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday November 9 in the Maison-mère chapel at 10 am. Interment will be in Memramcook. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton (858-1900).
